Canada Prioritizes Healthcare Workers in Latest Express Entry Category-Based Draw

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted its sixth category-based Express Entry drawfor candidates in healthcare and social-services occupations in 2025.

In this latest draw, 3,500 healthcare candidates received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was 462, the lowest CRS cutoff for this category so far this year.

To date in 2025, 13,292 ITAs have been issued to applicants in the healthcare and social-services category, making it the third-largest group of ITAs among all Express Entry categories this year.

Eligible Healthcare Occupations

The healthcare and social-services category includes professions such as:

  • General practitioners & family physicians

  • Specialists in clinical and laboratory medicine and surgery

  • Registered nurses, nurse practitioners, licensed practical nurses

  • Medical laboratory, radiation, and sonography technologists

  • Respiratory therapists and cardiology technologists

  • Physiotherapists and occupational therapists

  • Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians

  • Dentists and dental hygienists

  • Psychologists, counsellors, social workers

  • Social and community service workers
