How often do Express Entry draws occur?
Express Entry draws typically follow a consistent schedule:
- Most draws occur every two weeks
- They usually take place on Wednesdays
- The time of the draw can vary but often happens in the morning, Eastern Time
What types of Express Entry draws are there?
The Canadian government conducts different types of invitation rounds to meet various immigration objectives:
- All-program draws: Include candidates from all Express Entry programs (Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, and Canadian Experience Class).
- Program-specific draws: Focus on candidates from a specific program.
- Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws: Exclusive for candidates who have received a provincial nomination.
How are candidates selected in Express Entry draws?
Candidates are selected based on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score:
- Each candidate in the pool has a CRS score based on factors like age, education, language skills, and work experience
- In each draw, IRCC sets a minimum CRS score cut-off
- Candidates at or above this score receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence
