Unlock the Doors of Opportunities to Canada

Immigrate to Canada

Embark on your journey to Canada, a vast and welcoming country offering diverse opportunities for newcomers. With its strong economy, world-class education, and high quality of life, Canada opens its arms to those seeking a better future.

What is a Canada Permanent Resident (PR)?

A Canadian permanent resident is someone who has been granted permanent resident status by immigrating to Canada.
A permanent resident enjoys many of the same benefits as a Canadian citizen. However, unlike citizens, they must maintain their status by meeting certain requirements like the residency obligation.

Permanent Resident Card (PR card)

The Canadian government issues an official document known as the Permanent Residence Card (PR Card) to individuals recognized as permanent residents in Canada. This card acts as a verification of their status.

Time Inside Canada:

  • by physical presence

The Canadian government conducts different types of invitation rounds to meet various immigration objectives:

  • by accompanying a Canadian citizen’s spouse/common-law partner, or as a child accompanying a parent, or
  • by full-time employment with a Canadian enterprise or the Public Service of Canada, or
  • by accompanying a Canadian permanent resident who is outside Canada and who is employed full-time by a Canadian enterprise or the Public Service of Canada as the employee’s spouse/common-law partner or child.

Permanent residents of Canada are encouraged to carry a valid PR card at all times. Not only does the PR card allow a permanent resident to show proof of status, but it also allows a person to freely travel in and out of the country. If a PR card is within 9 months(730 days)  of expiration, or it has already expired, a permanent resident can submit an application for a new PR card.
How to Obtain Canadian Citizenship img

How to Obtain Canadian Citizenship

After residing in Canada as a permanent resident for at least three years, you may be eligible to apply for citizenship. This process involves meeting specific criteria and potentially taking a Canadian citizenship test.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a permanent resident of Canada
  • Have lived in Canada for a minimum of 3 out of the last 5 years (1,095 days)
  • Have filed your taxes as required
  • Pass a citizenship test (if you are between 18 and 54 years old)
  • Demonstrate proficiency in English or French (if you are between 18 and 54 years old)
It’s important to note that there are additional factors that may influence your eligibility. These considerations help ensure that applicants have established meaningful ties to Canada and are prepared to fully participate in Canadian society:
  • Time spent in Canada before becoming a permanent resident may count towards your physical presence requirement, up to a maximum of 365 days
  • You must be physically present in Canada for at least 183 days in each of the 3 calendar years that are fully or partially within the 5 years immediately before the date you sign your application
  • You must not have any unfulfilled conditions related to your permanent resident status

Ineligibility Factors

While Canada welcomes many newcomers each year, there are certain circumstances that may render an individual ineligible for citizenship. These factors are in place to maintain the integrity of the citizenship process and ensure the safety and security of Canadian society. You may not be eligible for Canadian citizenship if:
  • You are currently imprisoned, on parole, or on probation in Canada
  • You are serving a sentence outside of Canada
  • You are subject to a removal order
  • Your citizenship application was refused due to misrepresentation within the past 5 years
  • Your Canadian citizenship was revoked because of fraud within the past 10 years
  • You are under investigation for, or have been convicted of, war crimes or crimes against humanity
